Wherever the Scrumkitchen team happens to be at the moment. This is not a specific location, but rather our brand name.
However, we do have a kind of home base or favourite location: the Anderswo event location. When our workshops take place in Munich, we enjoy working with this reliable kitchen partner and using their perfect event kitchen. Not only is the equipment ideal for our purposes, but the location is also perfect thanks to its public transport connections and proximity to the main railway station.
Scrumkitchen is the brand name under which we offer Scrum Cooking workshops.
Scrum
Scrum is an agile project management method for teams and was initially used in software development. The framework serves to process complex tasks step by step. Scrum regulates communication and optimises the development process through self-organisation and strict cycles. Small units and flat hierarchies are the key to agile project work.
Although this is where Scrum originally comes from, it is also adapted and successfully used in other areas, such as human resources and sales. We can work out individual adaptations with our customers.
To check this, we have developed an Agile Assessment – a detailed questionnaire. You are welcome to commission us to carry out such an assessment.
At Scrumkitchen, we believe that a certificate alone does not make a good Scrum Master.
Yes, a Scrum Master must understand and internalise the Scrum principle. However, social skills and communication skills are most important. A Scrum Master must work in a results-oriented manner, because their task is to make themselves redundant. Curiosity is important: Scrum Masters must look closely at where conflicts are hidden and where their own ego gets in the way.
A Scrum Master who cannot let go, who meticulously watches over the team, often hinders the success of the project. Whereas a competent Scrum Master can really push the team’s performance.
Scrum Cooking: Why and how?
In Scrum Cooking, the steps involved in preparing a menu represent the work processes of your team.
When preparing the dinner together, you work with the Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective. This permanently instils the methodology.
Once celebrated together as a team while cooking, what you have learned sticks! Experiencing the community in the kitchen gives even Scrum professionals completely new insights and insights.
Our participants find the Scrum Cooking Workshop to be an exceptionally bonding experience. Planning together, organising themselves and then cooking creates a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere that inspires learning and community. One participant described the atmosphere as being like a school trip.
There are at least three:
- Scrum Cooking provides a real-life experience of Scrum practice, directly relevant to everyday work.
- Scrum Cooking will get you excited about Scrum – whether you’re a novice or an old hand. The clear insights into the method and its usefulness are like an energy drink for your project work.
- Scrum Cooking is a Scrum workshop and team event in one. This means you benefit twice: you learn how to apply Scrum in a sustainable and uncomplicated way AND you give your team an unforgettable and enjoyable evening.
We decide on the workshop location together. We have selected partner kitchens throughout Germany – and even worldwide (e.g. in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart), but we also cook in our customers’ canteens or offices.
We are flexible and open to customer requests.
At Scrumkitchen, we schedule between five and six hours for a Scrum Cooking workshop – we are flexible when it comes to the start time.
And, of course, we can expand our offering with agile games and comprehensive event planning for workshops lasting several days.
The theory part lasts half an hour. We are happy to accommodate requests and can expand on or supplement certain theoretical content, such as scaled Scrum, differentiation from Kanban, etc.
We often encounter highly interested teams who find the context of cooking motivating for reflection and inquiry. When applied to a specific situation, the theory becomes truly tangible, and the theoretical part can then take up more space in interaction with the team. We respond flexibly to this interest and are delighted about it. Our theoretical part is received extremely positively. We repeatedly receive feedback that participants have never before had agile methods explained to them in such a comprehensible and vivid way.
It is possible to combine Scrum Cooking with Scrum training, in which we prepare you for certification.
Scrum Cooking: For whom?
For experienced teams, Scrum novices or those interested in Scrum.
Agile methods are becoming increasingly popular. Although Scrum originally comes from software development, it has now been successfully adapted for other areas such as HR or sales.
We have developed an agile assessment – a detailed questionnaire that enables us to work out individual adjustments with our customers or, more generally, to check whether the use of Scrum is promising.
None. You don’t need to have heard of Scrum before, and you don’t need to know how to cook. Everyone gets carried away by the enthusiasm and exuberant atmosphere.
Just get involved, have a good time with your team, and enjoy yourself!
No prior knowledge is required for Scrum Cooking. In the workshop, we will bring you up to the level you want to achieve and, in consultation with you, put together the appropriate theory package.
We are professionals and have in-depth, well-founded knowledge of agile software development, so we can answer all your questions during the training.
Of course. It’s even ideal for bringing a breath of fresh air into everyday routines. We’ve had numerous software development teams with Scrum experience who have completed Scrumkitchen with us and were very enthusiastic. Even teams consisting solely of agile coaches found the course to be a great and enriching event. Transferring the method to such a tangible and familiar context as the kitchen also gives Scrum professionals completely new insights and insights.
Scrum Cooking is an exciting experience for all participants. Previous knowledge is not important.
With our well-founded theoretical and practical knowledge, we are good contacts for the various participants, and cooking and eating together provides many opportunities to answer specific questions.
Scrum Cooking can be carried out with a minimum of four participants.
According to the Scrum Guide, a Scrum team consists of at least three team members, an agile coach and the product owner. The product owner is provided by the Scrumkitchen team.
We also organise large groups and have suitable locations for this purpose. We have already conducted many workshops with 60 participants.
With twelve or more participants, we form several Scrum teams that work together on a large product. In this context, you will experience how scaled Scrum works. You will also learn about elements of Less and Scale.
No, the team carries the process. Everyone gets involved. Participants who cannot cook or do not enjoy doing so are swept along by the “agile” whirlwind. The result is a joyful, lively atmosphere.
Scrum Cooking Workshop – Practical Information
We will tailor the start time to suit you. We adapt to your daily routine and are very flexible. Courses are available in the morning, as well as evening or afternoon workshops.
Breaks occur naturally during the Scrum process. During reviews, the products created are eaten together in a relaxed atmosphere.
We provide cooking aprons. Casual is best, and clothing that isn’t too delicate… we’ll be standing in the kitchen and cooking.
We take all intolerances, preferences and dietary requirements into account.
The product owner records these requirements and you, as an agile team, consider these specifications as so-called acceptance criteria in the workshop.
Yes. Alcoholic beverages are also available upon request.
